In the 1901 Ireland County Mayo census, James Gill age 50 is living in Castlebar on Market Street with his wife Adelaide (28) and their children John (3) and James (1).  James is a draper.  Also living with them are John Fallon (30) and Patrick Hanlon (25) shop assistants, Margaret Loftus (20) nurse, Mary Hughes (17) servant, and Patt McHale (21) labourer.  Castlebar is in the parish of Aglish in the barony of Carra.
