The Person

Francis Gill was born Sept. 4, 1906, the 7th child of John and Bridget Gill. He was baptized at St. Malachi Church on September 9, 1906; his godparents were Michael Fay and Margaret Stanton and Fr. Timothy Dunn performed the ceremony. By trade he was a laborer, bricklayer, and later a fireman. At age 28, he married Ursula Cusick who was 26 at the time. Aunt Urse always seemed cheerful and hospitable.

Their wedding took place at St. Colman Church on November 17, 1934 with the witnesses Vincent Sammon and Genevieve O'Donnell. Ursula's parents were Daniel and Anna McCaffrey. Ursula had been baptized at St. Colman Church on August 19, 1908. Two children were born to Frank and Urse: Frank (5/7/37) and Tom (4/29/44). Frank married Sally Oswald on 2/15/57; today they reside in California. Tom was married to Karen Knable (daughter of Charles and Catherine Knable); they reside in Cuyahoga County.

Frank died on December 20, 1971 and was buried from St. Colman. Urse died on April 2, 1992; the funeral mass was at St. Rose and burial was in Calvary.
